BIRDS HAVE COME… and I am thrilled. And also, I have no clue how this camera app works.
It has been a little over two months since we hung the bird house (March 11, 2025) … and I received the first “security alert” that there was movement in the birdhouse on May 11, 2025. And oddly enough, while playing in the app for a minute, trying to figure out how it worked – I noticed there was a security alert recorded back on April 21st – how I missed this – I do not know.
So here is what has been happening in the past few weeks in the birdhouse…
April 21, 2025
THE FIRST BIRD – a House Sparrow. He didn’t visit the house for too long… but he was there. And that’s so very exciting. But… also not very interested in the location, as he has not been back since.

It was really fun to take a look in to this species and see what they’re all about. I dabble in a bit of “nature journaling” and was able to make an entry (delayed – since it wasn’t until May 11th that I realized the sparrow had made his appearance) – but it was fun to take a whack at drawing him.

We see House Sparrows every so often in our area, mostly feeding at our feeders in the back yard. They aren’t exactly my favorite bird, as they can be a nuisance and “bully” to other species (that I enjoy watching more).
May 8-12, 2025
These few days saw a Northern House Wren. He came in and out a few times over the course of the 5 days – and the first bird I was alerted of with the app (still not sure how I missed that with the sparrow).
The House Wren, like the House Sparrow only occasionally visits our feeders – and he seems a little more interested in the house and setting up home.

May 14-15, 2025
OH MY GOODNESS – I never in a million years would have dreamed that the Eastern Bluebird would find the house this year… and frequent it over the course of the two days. I texted everyone I knew the moment he and his bright blue feathers appeared!

Last year, was the first year I had Bluebirds visit our feeders – and it was so very fun to see – they are just beautiful! I’m glad they came back this year (bluebirds often frequent the same locations year after year – and generally have the same breeding partner for the entire season – possibly even for multiple seasons).
Watch!
I put together a short video of a few clips of the first birds (April 21 – May 14, 2025), take a look over here.
Stay tuned… its sure to be a fun season watching what happens in this birdhouse!
