BIRDCAM 2025: The Birdhouse Camera!

For my birthday last September, my in-laws gifted me this birdhouse with an inside camera allowing you to watch what happens inside. I WAS SO EXCITED to put this out… and today was the day!

You may be wondering why I waited until no (March) to put this up, seeing as I received it in September…

Not sure I can really explain that… other than puttingi t out for the winter seemed like a waste? I wasnt sure how the camera would react with the cold and if birds would even use the house in the winter. – clearly i am still new to all of this.

Anyways… with the help of my husband, and father-in-law (and permission from our landlord) we placed it on the corner of our apartment building approximately 5 1/2 feet from the ground.

Based on my quick internet research on “where to place a birdhouse” that seems to be a recommended height (5-12 feet high).

I am impressed so far with what I am seeing… there is a metal mesh “landing” area a few millimeters off the base of the birdhouse, ample space (I can only assume) for the birds to build their nest, two side “windows” that are for allowing in light and a nice area at the top for the camera to sit with space to wrap the excess cord for the solar charger around the camera.

The jury is still out on the camera & app – It is motion-activated so we shall see what that means if… I mean WHEN birds come.

Birdhouses can often take time to become noticed (a few days to several weeks/months), so I am trying very hard not to get too overly excited about all the things that could happen this year.

Stay tuned to see if anything checks it out!

I’m glad you’re here…

Plan. Hike. Bird. Repeat. that is what you’ll see here on my little corner of the internet. I love planners – give me all the lists and pens; nature – especially with my husband and dog (darby); and ALL OF THE BIRDS. Literally… all of them. I hope you enjoy what you’ll find here!
